Vertical Assets

InfoMaster is primarily designed to evaluate parent assets with their own spatial information within a feature class.  However, InfoMaster does contain some options for vertical asset integration and analysis.

Vertical Asset information may most easily be viewed in the Facility Explorer window.  After selecting a facility, select  to open up the vertical asset tree window.  Here users can see how their vertical assets may be organized and relate to each other.

Users may right-click in the asset tree window to access a variety of options.  These right-click options may be accessed in often be accessed in other areas of the software, but are convenient here.

Expand/Collapse All - Expands or collapses the vertical asset tree.

Add Asset - Users may add an asset to relate it to the root facility with this option.  Vertical assets may either be created as brand new assets or related if they are not already in a vertical asset tree relationship.  Note that vertical assets are related to parent assets and root facilities via blob functionality.

Import Vertical Asset - There are two ways to import vertical asset data to the InfoMaster project: By order or by Parent ID.  For more information see, Import Vertical Assets.

Remove Hierarchy - Does not delete any vertical asset data, but does reset the relationship the vertical asset has to the selected hierarchy or tree.  This option removes the selected vertical asset and all it's child assets from the display.

Save as Template - This option saves the shown hierarchy as the default template for similar facilities.

Condition Score

Within the vertical asset tree display, users may notice that the Condition Score field is specifically referenced and set aside.  This is a special default field incorporated into all vertical assets in InfoMaster.  Users may assign conditions scores based on inspection or survey information and 'roll-up' these scores into the overall parent facility.

In the example below, six tanks are vertical assets of the Network Structure parent facility.  Each of the tanks are given a condition score which is summed in the Network Structure attribute table.

In addition the the sum, InfoMaster will also generate a count of assets and an average from all the condition scores.  Populating these fields is not an automatic process.  Users must use an Inference to generate these count, sum, and average fields.  Specifically the last two inference options deal with vertical asset information.

The Calculate VA Signature inference generates a unique set of characters for the set sequence of vertical assets.  As facilities and vertical assets evolve, the signature will change each time the inference is run.
